Well folks, strap in! WWE NXT is back on the road and heading to Philly’s historic 2300 Arena, better known to the wrestling world as the “House that ECW Rebuilt, Renovated, and Possibly Partially Demolished.” And it seems like General Manager Ava is packing a surprise so “special” that even she had to keep it a secret from herself! Or maybe she just forgot to mention it on X — formerly known as Twitter, now known as the place where spoilers go to vacation.
This Wednesday, NXT will go head-to-head with AEW’s “Dynamite,” and you better believe the gloves are off. The last time these two duked it out, “Title Tuesday” saw Dynamite hit historic ratings lows thanks to a scheduling mix-up. This time, NXT’s Tuesday slot is occupied by something we know will draw serious ratings: the 2024 election coverage. Yes, the only thing that can outdraw NXT is democracy itself!
What’s GM Ava Up To? We’ll Give You Three Wild Guesses
Rumor has it, Ava’s mystery announcement could involve the annual December event, Deadline — if not, it’s likely to involve something equally deadline-adjacent. Maybe a whole new tournament format? Or perhaps Ava will bring back a classic like the infamous ECW Extreme Strip Poker. Nothing says “ratings” like full-contact Texas Hold’em, after all!
Whatever Ava’s announcement entails, NXT is pulling out all the stops to get fans in the door. Who needs an election night map with a thousand tiny counties when you can have Rob Van Dam, the original high-flying “Whole Dam Show,” back in the ring? Or WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley, possibly reminding his tag partner, Trick Williams, that any day is a good day to throw someone through a table.
An ECW Reunion for the Ages
For those who remember ECW’s heyday, NXT’s Wednesday night lineup is practically a homecoming parade. Alongside RVD, fans can expect ECW alum Dawn Marie as a guest referee, surely bringing her own, let’s call it, “unique flair” to officiating. Meanwhile, Bubba Ray teams up with NXT Champ Trick Williams to take on Ridge Holland and Ethan Page, proving that a Dudley never really needs an excuse to start a fight.
Not to be outdone, Wes Lee and Je’Von Evans will be taking their rivalry to new extremes under the guidance of — you guessed it — RVD himself, who will likely serve as both instigator and in-ring life coach. Expect plenty of high-risk moves, inspirational catchphrases, and more than a few instances of RVD forgetting where he is mid-match.
Dynamite Competition? Not a Problem, Says WWE
For those worried that AEW will steal the spotlight, rest assured WWE has everything under control. Between the legendary lineup, the promise of Ava’s special announcement, and the old-school Philly energy, NXT looks to be in prime form to crush Wednesday night ratings. After all, if there’s one thing the 2300 Arena knows, it’s how to host a rumble that’d make even the founding fathers jealous.
So, clear your calendars, dust off that ECW jersey, and get ready for what could be the wrestling crossover of the year. Will Ava’s announcement shock the wrestling world? Will AEW manage to keep up? And, most importantly, will the 2300 Arena still be standing by the end of the night? Stay tuned, because things are about to get extremely interesting.
