This week, Ricochet’s calendar looks more packed than an overbooked airport. After a high-flying ambush on Zack Sabre Jr. in Japan (because why wouldn’t you do that on a Monday morning?), Ricochet is now jetting to Manchester, New Hampshire, for a mid-week showdown on AEW Dynamite. His opponents? The formidable duo of Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita, under the eccentric supervision of The Don Callis Family. But here’s the kicker: Ricochet has the rare luxury of picking any partner he wants. And naturally, nothing says “strategic decision” quite like last-minute social media pitches from old co-workers.
Enter former WWE star Donovan Dijak. Swooping in on X (formerly Twitter) with an impassioned post, Dijak pitched himself as the perfect mystery partner. His selling points? Proximity. Dijak lives just 26 minutes from the venue, so, in his words, AEW could “save a little cash” on airfare. But that’s not all! Dijak added one small caveat: the match shouldn’t happen at 7 p.m. sharp, or he might have to hit pause to tuck in his kids. “If you’re gonna book me, just… maybe not first on the card, yeah?”
Dijak’s post took a very understanding tone, practically whispering, “No pressure.” He even assured Ricochet that he’d totally understand if no one followed up on his offer. After all, as he reasoned, he wouldn’t mind an evening off – apparently, being the occasional wrestling free agent has its perks, like “personal time.”
Since leaving WWE earlier this year, Dijak’s been crisscrossing the indie circuit, popping up everywhere from Beyond Wrestling to RevPro. He even lingered backstage at AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door in June, sparking rumors of potential AEW interest – rumors that disappeared as fast as they arrived.
But who knows? Maybe all it’ll take to reignite those talks is Ricochet’s willingness to save on a plane ticket – and overlook bedtime constraints.
