Wrestling icon and suplex enthusiast Bill Goldberg recently announced that his last hurrah will take place in 2025 at Crown Jewel, setting the stage for one final (hopefully) spear-filled bout against WWE’s stoic powerhouse, GUNTHER. But the internet never rests, and neither does former WWE star Nic Nemeth, better known as Dolph Ziggler, who weighed in on the retirement with a spicy two cents on X (formerly known as Twitter).
With a flair only Nemeth can bring, he fantasized, “On the bell, he spears & jackknife’s Gunther. G kicks out at 1. 3 minute match and good f’n riddance.” Nothing says “happy retirement” like a three-minute send-off filled with a classic kick-out moment, does it? And for those wondering if he’d offer another option, he sure did: the “Steiner kid,” known to the rest of us as Bron Breakker, the reigning Intercontinental Champion and the latest Steiner with muscles that pop like Michelin tires.
Nemeth’s apparent apathy isn’t exactly new. After all, Ziggler and Goldberg shared a ring once back at SummerSlam 2019, where Goldberg’s two-minute win looked less like a wrestling match and more like a live-action training session for a demolition derby. Goldberg himself actually credits Ziggler for “restoring his confidence” after the, um, “tough” Super Showdown 2019 bout against The Undertaker, which might best be described as “nightmare fuel” for die-hard fans.
So, here we are, with Goldberg eyeing his final dance at the ripe age of never give up and likely facing GUNTHER, who only added to the hype after calling Goldberg out at WWE’s Bad Blood 2024. Sparks flew, almost literally, as the two had a near-clash that left fans counting the days until they see Goldberg’s swan song.
And while we wait to see if Ziggler’s one-minute, 59-second match idea comes to life, one thing’s for sure: it’ll be must-watch entertainment—whether it’s a fireworks show or a five-star retirement roast.
