Hold onto your hats, folks, because AEW’s Tony Schiavone just came out swinging faster than a kid at a piñata party. Last week’s episode of “AEW Dynamite” stirred up more drama than a Thanksgiving dinner after someone mentions politics, thanks to the controversial airing of that backstage brawl between CM Punk and Jack Perry at last year’s All In.

But if you thought Tony Schiavone was stewing about the decision to air the footage—think again. On his podcast “What Happened When,” with co-host Conrad Thompson stirring the pot, Schiavone got a chance to spill the tea, and boy, did he pour it out like it was going cold.

Laughing off the social media detectives, Tony explained, “My facial reaction was all about adding fuel to the fire in our storyline, making the Bucks look like the villains they were playing. I wasn’t upset with the footage. Honestly, I don’t give a hoot about it. I was all in on the angle, no pun intended.”

And for those naysayers drawing parallels between AEW and the final days of WCW, Schiavone had a few choice words: “Calling that segment our ‘Fingerpoke of Doom’? That’s just folks wishing on a star for our downfall. Listen here, comparing AEW to WCW is like comparing apples to some very confused oranges. I’ve been in both rings, and let me tell you, they aren’t even in the same league.”

Tony wrapped up his rant with a bit of classic Schiavone sass, reminding everyone that social media is often just a circus of speculation. “Social media,” he quipped, “is where wisdom goes to retire.”

So there you have it, straight from the horse’s mouth—or in this case, the voice of wrestling’s living room. Tony Schiavone isn’t sweating the small stuff, and neither should you. As for AEW, they’re just rolling with the punches, and according to Tony, they’re nowhere near down for the count.
