Good news, folks! Adam Cole, who’s been out of action for over a year following a freak ankle injury at “AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam,” may soon be making his return to the ring. According to a new report from Fightful Select, AEW is “hopeful and even expecting” to see Cole back in action sooner than later—and that’s music to the ears of fans everywhere.

Cole’s injury occurred after he jumped off the stage to help his (former) friend MJF, resulting in a broken ankle that required multiple surgeries. The recovery process has been lengthy, and Cole’s rehabilitation even forced him off the road with AEW, as traveling hindered his healing. However, the latest word backstage is positive, and it looks like AEW is already getting creative plans in motion for Cole’s eventual return.

Fightful also reported that Cole was backstage at All Out, walking around boot-free and in high spirits—another promising sign that he’s nearing full recovery. Fans last saw Cole on AEW programming back in May at Double or Nothing, where he took part in a heated segment with MJF. Cole pulled out the devil mask he used during his turn on MJF, teasing that once he’s healed, he’ll “give the devil his due.” That storyline was put on ice due to his injury, but it seems like Cole could pick things up where he left off.

His last match before the injury came at All Out 2023, where he and MJF successfully defended their Ring of Honor Tag Team Championships against The Dark Order’s John Silver and Alex Reynolds. Prior to his ankle injury, Cole had already survived two career-threatening concussions, so his return has fans holding their breath.

With his recovery progressing well, Cole’s return to AEW could bring massive intrigue back to the ongoing MJF storyline. Stay tuned, folks—the devil may be getting his due very soon.
