The road to WWE NXT No Mercy is paved with high stakes and even higher drama as the September 1st event in Denver, Colorado, promises to deliver more fireworks than a Fourth of July BBQ. Tuesday night’s “NXT” gave us a sneak peek into the chaos that awaits, as not one, but two massive title matches were set, along with a few other spicy showdowns that have the wrestling world buzzing louder than a caffeinated barista.

In a night filled with bone-crunching action and plot twists that would make a soap opera blush, Ethan Page’s NXT Championship and Roxanne Perez’s NXT Women’s Championship now have official challengers. But the surprises didn’t stop there! Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan decided she wasn’t busy enough and threw down the gauntlet, challenging Wendy Choo. Meanwhile, “NXT” General Manager Ava played matchmaker, making it official: Nathan Frazer and Axiom will get their much-deserved rematch against Chase U’s Andre Chase and Ridge Holland for the NXT Tag Team Championships. The duo earned their shot after putting Duke Hudson and Riley Osbourne through their paces like a couple of undergrads during finals week.

Speaking of unfinished business, former Heritage Cup champion Tony D’Angelo apparently woke up this morning and chose violence. He’ll be taking on NXT North American Champion Oba Femi at No Mercy. But let’s be real—this match is less about titles and more about who can out-muscle the other. D’Angelo made his intentions clear when he laid out Femi with a spinebuster that probably registered on the Richter scale. Femi might have been gunning for a showdown with new Heritage Cup champion Charlie Dempsey, but D’Angelo was having none of it. Instead, he brought in “The Family” to remind everyone why they’re not just the toughest guys in the room—they are the room.

And just when you thought the evening couldn’t get any more intense, NXT threw in a little bonus: a triple threat match that had TNA Wrestling’s Joe Hendry facing off against Pete Dunne and Wes Lee for a shot at Ethan Page’s title in Denver. It’s safe to say that by the time No Mercy rolls around, the only thing we’ll be missing is the popcorn.

I like ice cream, taking a back seat, wondering who I am, and pretending kayfabe is real. May or may not be the Real Dark Brandon. For the LOLZ. MALARKEY!
