Hold onto your hats, wrestling fans, because the Summer Destiny event in Tokyo just got a whole lot spicier! Not only did IYO SKY return to Japan and snag a victory over Utami Hayashishita, but her Damage CTRL stablemate, the ever-charismatic Kairi Sane, was also in the house, cheering her on and catching up with old friends.
According to our pals at Fightful Select, Sane flew to Tokyo to support SKY and reconnect with her former wrestling comrades. This dynamic duo’s friendship stretches back over a decade to their days dominating the STARDOM scene. They reunited under WWE’s banner in 2018 and again in 2023 when Sane made her grand reappearance at Crown Jewel PLE, aligning herself with the formidable Damage CTRL.
Now, Sane’s surprise visit to Marigold’s Summer Destiny event has fans buzzing. Snaps of Sane backstage, shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), show her catching up with STARDOM co-founder Rossy Ogawa and the newly crowned Marigold Super Flyweight Champion, Natsumi Showzuki.
Sane’s bond with Ogawa began 13 years ago when she started training with STARDOM. Ogawa, now leading Dream Star Fighting Marigold, is thrilled to see Sane back in the mix. As for Showzuki, she and Sane were the Goddesses of STARDOM Champions way back in 2013. Fast forward to now, Showzuki has made history by becoming the first-ever Marigold Super Flyweight Champion, after defeating Misa Matsui in a nail-biting tournament final at Summer Destiny.
Sane, ever the supportive friend, congratulated Showzuki on X, writing, “Congratulations Natchan. It was cool!!”
No word yet on whether Sane will step into the ring for Marigold, but her presence backstage is enough to send the wrestling world into a frenzy. Stay tuned for more updates on this electrifying reunion!
