Brace yourselves, wrestling fans, because the AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland is about to add another high-octane match to his already jam-packed schedule! Since taking down Samoa Joe at AEW Dynasty, Strickland’s been busier than a caffeinated squirrel. And now, he’s stepping out of the All Elite Wrestling spotlight for a dream match against an independent wrestling legend.

According to Fightful Select, Strickland is set for a rare indie showdown with none other than The Amazing Red. For those not in the know, Red is a TNA X-Division star and has wowed audiences in Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and GCW. This epic encounter will go down at House of Glory’s “High Intensity” event on July 26 at the NYC Arena. And for those who can’t make it to the Big Apple, the match will stream live on TrillerTV. Mark your calendars, folks – this is one you don’t want to miss!

Strickland is no stranger to House of Glory. He snagged his first win there in December 2023 against TNA’s ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey, adding to his record of five matches for the promotion. He’s challenged for HOG’s top titles before, going toe-to-toe for the Tag Team, Crown Jewel, and World Championships but came up short against Private Party, Evander James, and Anthony Gangone.

Now, despite being billed as the AEW World Champion, there’s a plot twist: Strickland might not hold the title by the time he faces The Amazing Red. He’s slated to defend his championship against AEW International Champion Will Ospreay at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view on June 30 in Long Island, New York. So, will Swerve still be the champ when he faces Red? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure – the hype is real!
