In a twist more shocking than a surprise Royal Rumble entrant, former WWE star Matt Riddle has canceled his weekend wrestling appearances after his Uber took a detour straight to disaster. Riddle was set to battle Brad Hollister and Zak Patterson at events for Northeast Wrestling and North Shore Pro Wrestling, respectively, on June 14 and 15. But alas, fate had other plans, and Riddle confirmed he’d be missing both after his ride-share went bumper cars on the way to the airport.

“Just wanted to share with everyone that I won’t be making tonight’s show or tomorrow’s show,” Riddle announced on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Unfortunately on my way to the airport my Uber got into an accident and I had to go to the hospital and get checked out. I have a concussion, bumps and bruises but I’ll be fine.”

Since his dramatic WWE exit late last year, Riddle has been tearing up the independent scene, putting smiles on faces and titles on his mantle. This year alone, he’s grappled for NJPW and MLW, notably snagging victory in the 40-Man Battle Riot match at MLW’s event on June 1. He held the NJPW World TV Championship from February to April, triumphing over Hiroshi Tanahashi at The New Beginning in Sapporo, only to lose the belt to Zack Sabre Jr. at Windy City Riot.

Riddle’s WWE departure came amid rumors of burning bridges and tumultuous behavior, with the final nail in the coffin being another airport incident that spurred a police investigation. It seems airports and Riddle just don’t mix.

I like ice cream, taking a back seat, wondering who I am, and pretending kayfabe is real. May or may not be the Real Dark Brandon. For the LOLZ. MALARKEY!
