Folks, hold onto your spandex because Tony Khan is about to shake up the wrestling world once again. AEW is trying something new and exciting this summer, setting up a residency for “AEW Collision” in Arlington, Texas. That’s right, from July 20 through August 17, AEW is parking itself at the Esports Stadium, turning it into the hottest wrestling hub in the Lone Star State.

A New Chapter for AEW

Tony Khan, AEW’s head honcho, gave some tantalizing hints about this summer residency during an interview with TV Insider. When asked if this move was an experiment, Khan expertly dodged the question like a pro wrestler avoiding a clothesline. Instead, he emphasized that this residency is a golden opportunity to bring AEW to one of the most passionate wrestling markets.

“The City of Arlington really wanted to work with us,” Khan said. “It created a great opportunity for us to bring AEW to one of the hottest markets in pro wrestling. The Esports Stadium in Arlington is a beautiful facility. We think it will be a great home for pro wrestling.”

Unique Energy and New Opportunities

Khan is particularly excited about the unique energy this residency will bring. “It will have its own different energy, distinct from what we do compared to Dynamite or Rampage,” he said. Imagine the roaring crowds, the electrifying atmosphere, and the sheer spectacle of it all. This isn’t just a series of shows; it’s a wrestling extravaganza set to make Saturday nights on TNT must-see TV.

A Business Model Shakeup

But it’s not just about the wrestling. Khan hinted at a new business model, potentially making this residency a pilot program for future events. “We’re hoping for big success and to continue to bring a series of great events and continue to deliver great wrestling. And doing so with a different business model,” he explained.

AEW’s residency is more than just a stop on the tour; it’s an anchor in a sea of traveling shows, offering fans in Texas a summer to remember. And with “ROH Death Before Dishonor” and an episode of “AEW Rampage” also emanating from the arena, Arlington is set to be the epicenter of wrestling action.
