In a turn of events as surprising as a body slam from the top rope, former WWE NXT Tag Champion Nash Carter (now known as Zachary Wentz in TNA Wrestling) has teased his involvement in Wes Lee’s storyline after the recent NXT Battleground event.
The Battleground Premium Live Event saw Wes Lee in a nail-biting triple threat match for the North American Championship against reigning champ Oba Femi and Gallus’ Joe Coffey. As the match intensified, Coffey’s cronies, Mark Coffey and Wolfgang, decided to join the ringside party and meddle in the match. Lee, showing the heart of a lion, fought them off, but the distraction allowed Femi to swoop in and retain his title.
In the aftermath of the chaos, Wentz extended an olive branch to his former tag team partner. He cryptically tweeted, “We’re only one call away.📲💚💨,” suggesting he’s ready to jump back into the ring to aid Lee.
Wentz and Lee, known together as MSK, took the WWE universe by storm in 2021, clinching the NXT Tag Team titles twice. Their promising partnership was abruptly ended when Wentz was let go from WWE due to a controversial photo. Since then, Wentz has found a new home in TNA Wrestling, where he’s been tearing it up with Trey Miguel, even snagging the TNA World Tag Team Championships.
Could a WWE return be on the horizon for Wentz? Given the budding relationship between WWE and TNA Wrestling, which recently saw stars like Jordynne Grace and Ash By Elegance appear on WWE programming, anything is possible. A reunion of MSK could be just what Wes Lee needs to even the odds against Gallus and reclaim his rightful glory.
