In the wild world of wrestling, where body slams and neck trauma are just another day at the office, AEW star Bryan Danielson is proving that he’s tougher than a $2 steak. Despite nursing a serious neck injury, Danielson has declared that he’s not backing down from next weekend’s Double or Nothing event. Yes, you read that right – the man’s got nerves of steel and a neck that apparently needs a pit stop in the OR, but he’s all in!

In a video that hit AEW’s X page (formerly known as Twitter – because we can never have enough rebranding confusion), the Blackpool Combat Club’s very own daredevil disclosed the gravity of his situation. Turns out, the injury was exacerbated during his bout with Will Ospreay at AEW Dynasty. The incident occurred when Danielson, in a moment that could only be described as “ouch,” attempted a Frankensteiner and instead made an impromptu headstand.

“I got shooting pains down my arm. I’m at home and I have to go get MRIs. I have a compression of the nerve root at C6, C7, and C7, T1. I’ve got this shooting pain that’s running down my arm that won’t go away,” Danielson shared, likely sending a collective shiver down the spines of chiropractors everywhere. “The doctor is telling me that pretty soon I’m going to have to have surgery. The only way I can hold out, the only way that I can hold out is if I can keep the strength in my right hand. Right now it’s still there. I have the shooting pain, but I’ve still got the strength. So I plan on staying at home, recovering, doing physical therapy.”

So, while Danielson contemplates a potential date with the surgical suite, he’s also gearing up for some high-octane action. Double or Nothing will see him team up with FTR and Darby Allin in a no-holds-barred Anarchy in the Arena match against The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, and Kazuchika Okada. Because, really, what’s a little neck pain when you’ve got wrestling glory on the line?
