The injury bug has hit AEW hard in recent months, sidelining some big names and shaking up storylines. Fans have been eagerly awaiting updates on their favorite stars, and while there’s promising news for some, others are still in recovery.
According to Fightful Select, Cole Karter—known to WWE fans as Troy “Two Dimes” Donovan—is reportedly nearing a comeback after being out since June with a broken arm. Though it’s unclear if he’s officially cleared, recovery is looking promising. For Skye Blue, however, the outlook isn’t as rosy. Blue is still on the mend from an ankle injury, with no clear return date just yet.
The biggest question mark surrounds Willow Nightingale, the former TBS Champion, who has been out since October due to a concussion sustained during her CMLL stint. Fightful reports that “tentative creative plans” were on the table for Nightingale, but her recovery has led AEW to pump the brakes to ensure she heals fully.
AEW programming has also been boosted by the recent returns of stars like Adam Cole, who made a big comeback after his own lengthy injury, reigniting his rivalry with MJF on Dynamite. Fans are also looking forward to Kenny Omega, whose NJPW appearances hint that he’s on the road back to AEW, and Julia Hart, who’s been teased in new AEW vignettes.
While the timetable for some remains uncertain, it’s clear AEW is working to bring these stars back carefully—and fans are more than ready to see them return to the ring.
