Linda McMahon is reportedly at the top of the list for a cabinet position in the new Trump administration, with insiders pointing to the Department of Commerce as her likely destination. Following Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in last week’s election, McMahon has already stepped up as co-chair of his transition team, and now both Reuters and FOX Business’ Charles Gasparino have named her the front-runner for the Commerce seat.
McMahon has been a longstanding supporter of Trump’s political career, pouring millions into his three campaigns over the years. Back in 2017, Trump appointed her as head of the Small Business Administration, a role she held until 2019, when she moved to chair the America First Action Super PAC. She played a major financial role in the 2020 re-election bid and has continued that support into 2024, contributing an estimated $10 million.
Both Linda and Vince McMahon, however, have faced legal challenges. Just last month, they were named in a lawsuit alleging that they failed to act in a case involving the abuse of young WWE employees in the 1980s. While the legal process continues, McMahon’s potential role in Trump’s cabinet signals her continued influence and proximity to the President-elect, despite the scrutiny.
