The WWE just hit the high-flying, 540-degree spinning jackpot, folks. The latest recruit to the WWE Independent Development (WWE ID) program is none other than Cartwheel Jack Summit, the human embodiment of an energy drink commercial gone viral. The man has done so many flips in the ring that he probably thinks gravity is optional. Now he’s poised to bring his gravity-defying, double-backflip energy straight to the WWE ID ranks—and the internet can’t stop spinning.
Summit, a Sacramento dynamo with a trail of jaw-dropped fans from indie circuits like GCW, ROH, AEW, AAA, and even RevPro, comes with credentials as stacked as a Triple H bicep curl. Known for his work in GCW—a promotion with a reputation for blending wrestling with a touch of cage fighting and “here-hold-my-beer” madness—Summit was practically tailor-made for WWE’s program. Plus, the cartwheeling wizard now joins an elite squad in the WWE ID program: The Real Deal Zayda Steel, Bryce Donovan, and Cold Brew Cappuccino Jones. And yes, all their names sound like they came from a pro wrestling action figure aisle we’d like to shop at.
In a move that has got wrestling purists and flip-flop skeptics alike raising eyebrows, WWE CCO Triple H announced a plan to align with five prestigious wrestling schools to nurture new talent. These are not your neighborhood karate classes, people. Reality of Wrestling, Nightmare Factory, Black and Brave Academy, Elite Pro Wrestling Training Center, and Knokx Pro Academy have officially signed on as WWE’s developmental dream team. According to Dave Meltzer (the wrestling world’s unofficial gossip guru), these WWE ID hopefuls aren’t chained to a desk, so to speak—they can still take bookings elsewhere, provided WWE gives the green light. WWE is playing the ultimate game of “you can look, but don’t touch unless we say so.”
But wait, there’s more! Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling event, Super Sunday, is rumored to be the launchpad for yet another WWE ID recruit announcement. Wrestling aficionados can expect star-studded action featuring folks like Promise Braxton, Rache Chanel, and Ryan Davidson, plus former MLW World Tag Team Champion and overall cool-named individual, Richard Holliday. Who will be next? Only time—and Triple H’s clipboard—will tell.
