It’s official! AEW CEO Tony Khan took to X (formerly known as Twitter, formerly known as our free time) to announce a highly anticipated showdown at the Full Gear pay-per-view: Mercedes Mone will defend her TBS Championship against none other than the intergalactic powerhouse, Kris Statlander.
In a classic AEW setup, this clash brewed up over a series of fiery face-offs and smack-talk. Statlander, fresh off a victory against Mone’s muscle-for-hire, Kamille “The Brickhouse,” isn’t mincing words. Last week on Collision, Statlander made it clear that Mone’s diva behavior and locker-room-queen attitude aren’t impressing her. In a backstage promo with all the subtlety of a pile driver, Statlander laid it out: Mone keeps herself locked away, but it’s fear—not fame—that’s driving her isolation. “She’s afraid of the competition. This year, she better be afraid of me,” Statlander warned.
Mone, who currently holds two belts (because why have one when you can hoard two?), now has to defend the TBS Title on November 23, and Statlander’s making no secret of her plans to reclaim what was once hers. Fans are bracing for an all-out brawl between these two powerhouse competitors, with Mone’s title and reputation on the line.
Full Gear – Lineup Highlights
On top of this title defense, Khan’s lineup for Full Gear promises other blockbuster bouts: Jon Moxley will defend his AEW World Championship against Orange Cassidy, and we’re likely to see either (or both?) Roderick Strong and Adam Cole attempt to dethrone MJF. Oh, and let’s not forget the bruiser match between Jay White and “Hangman” Adam Page, which has “grudge match of the year” written all over it.
As always, Tony Khan’s taken to X to hype the match, promising, “Full Gear is going to be historic!” And if this card’s intensity is any sign, the Prudential Center may need to reinforce its foundations. Buckle up, AEW fans, because Full Gear is shaping up to be a wild ride.
