In the grand tradition of surprise attacks, Ricochet set a new standard at NJPW Power Struggle this weekend—by executing a springboard clothesline in a three-piece suit, complete with shiny Oxfords. Yes, while Zack Sabre Jr. basked in his hard-won IWGP World Heavyweight Championship victory over Shingo Takagi, Ricochet swooped in like the best-dressed vigilante in wrestling, making his first NJPW appearance since 2017 and challenging Sabre for a match at January’s Wrestle Dynasty.

After the event, Ricochet took to social media to explain his unconventional attire and his unexpected ambush, saying, “Had to remind the world that I’m still the f***ing man around here.” Translation: Suit or not, Ricochet’s out to prove that he’s still got the fire—and the audacity—to shake things up.

But Ricochet wasn’t the only one with his eye on Sabre’s belt. Shota Umino had already laid down a title challenge just moments before Ricochet’s assault. Not one to be overshadowed, Umino rushed back in after Ricochet’s mic-drop moment, practically tripping over himself to get in Sabre’s face. As if things weren’t chaotic enough, Sabre hinted afterward that he’d be taking on both challengers over two nights at Wrestle Dynasty, with Ricochet getting his shot on January 5.

Power Struggle also saw another huge announcement: Kenny Omega, who’s been out of action for nearly a year due to diverticulitis, is set to return to the ring at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5. After successful surgery in August, Omega’s comeback adds even more fuel to the Wrestle Dynasty fire—and he’s bound to add a little extra drama to the already stacked event.

With Ricochet, Sabre, Umino, and now Omega all set to throw down at Wrestle Dynasty, NJPW’s January show is shaping up to be a can’t-miss spectacle. Will Sabre leave the event as champion, or will Ricochet’s formalwear assault be a sign of things to come? Stay tuned.
