The ring will soon rumble one last time with Goldberg’s thunderous presence, folks! The WWE Hall of Famer, who has speared his way through legends and belts alike, just announced on ESPN’s “SEC Nation” that he’s stepping back into the WWE ring in 2025 for a highly-anticipated retirement match. And it looks like his final showdown will be with none other than the current World Heavyweight Champion, GUNTHER. That’s right, folks—the man, the myth, the mountain of muscle himself.

The Legendary Showdown: Goldberg vs. GUNTHER?
Goldberg hinted that GUNTHER may be his “victim” in his farewell fight. After an electrifying face-off last month at Bad Blood in Atlanta, it’s clear that these two aren’t here to exchange friendship bracelets. GUNTHER, who shockingly dubbed Goldberg his “favorite wrestler” (a bold proclamation right there in front of Goldberg’s longtime critic Bret Hart), quickly switched to trash talk once Goldberg was close enough to hear it. Cue Goldberg vaulting the crowd barrier like a high-flying superhero, only to be held back by security as the fans lost their minds.

For anyone keeping score at home, Goldberg’s last WWE bout was a hard-hitting clash against Roman Reigns in 2022’s Elimination Chamber. And before that? He stomped his way through Bobby Lashley in a brutal no-holds-barred match at Crown Jewel 2021. So, while he’s no stranger to high-stakes bouts, this retirement match could be the mother of all send-offs.

What’s Next?
So far, we don’t have a set date. But rest assured, 2025 is going to bring fireworks. With Goldberg already firing shots, and GUNTHER holding his belt with a glint in his eye, the wrestling world is ready for a collision of epic proportions. For fans of fierce finishers and intense face-offs, this farewell match is going to be one for the ages.
