In a classic, oh-so-cool Cassidy way, the wrestling world’s most laid-back dude finally threw down a challenge hotter than his black denim jacket. Yes, folks, AEW’s Orange Cassidy kicked off “Fright Night Dynamite” by rolling into the ring with hands firmly in pockets to do what few dare: call out Jon Moxley, AEW World Champion and connoisseur of brawling brutality.
Sporting a look of casual indifference that screams “maybe I’ll take the title, maybe I won’t,” Cassidy laid it all out. Though he’s typically not big on locker room speeches or motivational talks, tonight he spoke up for a cause greater than his famously mellow vibe. Cassidy took a moment to acknowledge the recent BCC-induced chaos, including an attack on his good friend Chuck Taylor that was, let’s just say, “spicy” in the worst way. Cassidy made it clear that he’s less about talking and more about saving AEW from Moxley’s reign of destruction.
“I’m here every week, Jon,” he said, waving off the concept of a catchphrase. “I’m right here in this ring. I’m ‘Freshly Squeezed’ Orange Cassidy, and I’m the next AEW World Champion. I don’t need a catchphrase. Just a title.”
This is no small feat Cassidy’s after. Since crushing Bryan Danielson at WrestleDream 2024, Moxley has held onto the AEW World Championship like it’s the last slice of pizza at a wrestling after-party. A fourth-time champion, Moxley’s iron grip has turned AEW into a brawler’s paradise, with a splash of chaos courtesy of the Blackpool Combat Club (BCC).
Will Moxley accept Cassidy’s challenge? No word yet from the AEW champ or the rest of BCC, but if Cassidy has his way, things are about to get a whole lot juicier in AEW.
