Well, folks, grab your popcorn because WWE NXT’s CW Network debut went off with a bang—or should we say, with a Trick Shot. Trick Williams recaptured the NXT Championship, leaving poor Ethan Page sprawled out like yesterday’s laundry in a match that had more twists than a soap opera! And who was the special guest referee for this chaotic clash? None other than CM Punk, promising to “call it down the middle.” Spoiler alert: he didn’t.

In the final moments, the action hit peak drama. Williams unleashed a vicious knee, knocking Page into a pinning position that felt eerily similar to their showdown at NXT Heatwave. With both men ready to pass out from exhaustion, Punk decided to play “good guy” and help them up—because apparently, lifting tired wrestlers is part of the referee job description now. Page, still full of vinegar, kicked Williams not once, but twice, and Williams answered with an uppercut and a uranage. Just when you thought it was over, Page hit Williams with none other than Punk’s own finisher, the infamous GTS! But, like a wrestling superhero, Williams kicked out, shocking everyone—including Punk, who probably questioned his own moveset.

Not one to back down, Page went for his signature Ego’s Edge, but Williams wasn’t having it. He slipped off Page’s shoulders and nailed him with a Trick Shot that hit harder than a caffeine buzz after midnight. The three-count later, and Williams was officially a two-time NXT Champion, with streamers falling from the sky like it was a New Year’s Eve party in Times Square.

And just to add a little insult to injury, CM Punk—ever the mischievous referee—served up a final helping of humiliation by laying out Page with a GTS of his own. That’s right, folks, Punk made sure Page knew exactly how it felt to eat his finisher, leaving Williams to bask in the glory of his shiny, newly redesigned NXT Championship belt.

With this win, Trick Williams begins his second reign as NXT Champion, while Page’s championship run comes to a close at a respectable 86 days. But something tells me that after eating two GTSs in one night, Page won’t be feeling very “respectable” in the morning.

Oh, and elsewhere on the show? NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez retained her title with a little help from her not-so-secret weapon, Cora Jade, while Wes Lee pulled himself out of a brutal street fight against former buddy Zachary Wentz. But let’s be real—tonight belonged to Trick Williams and his hard-earned NXT Championship.
