Folks, when it rains, it pours, and TNA Wrestling has learned that lesson the hard way! Thanks to Hurricane Helene tearing through the southeastern U.S. like a 300-pound wrestler hitting a flying elbow, TNA’s planned television tapings in Spartanburg, South Carolina, have been KO’d. The company was set to film key episodes building up to their biggest event of the year, the Bound For Glory pay-per-view on October 26. But instead of suplexes, we got power outages, and instead of epic promos, staff were charging their phones in cars like they were tailgating a storm chaser convention.
Originally, the tapings were supposed to take place on September 27 and 28. When the storm rolled in, TNA tried to outmaneuver it by rescheduling for September 30 and October 1. However, when power outages spread across the city like Hulkamania in the 80s, it became clear that not even the toughest of wrestlers could fight a category 3 hurricane. The final bell for these tapings came when the venue itself lost power. It was lights out, literally, for any chance of salvaging the event.
Fightful Select revealed that many TNA staff who arrived early were stranded in hotels with no electricity, and no vacancies were available in the surrounding area. This meant they were forced to innovate, charging their phones in their cars and likely cutting wrestling promos to pass the time. I mean, what’s more fitting for a wrestling promotion than overcoming adversity, right?
With no time to regroup, the company is now considering a plan B. Word on the street is they might head back to Skyway Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, next week—the same location they used during the pandemic era. Unfortunately, this scrambling means there won’t be any new content ready for the October 3 episode of “TNA Impact.” Instead, fans can expect a “best of Bound For Glory” special. Hey, at least it’s not another rerun of the Monty Brown vs. the Storm match!
