As if Roxanne Perez didn’t already have her hands full with former NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion Giulia, former CMLL Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer has entered the chat—and she’s not messing around. During the closing segment of this week’s WWE NXT, Vaquer, who recently inked a deal with WWE, made a surprise appearance to throw down a challenge that shook the room.
“What are you going to do when you have me waiting on the other side of your NXT Women’s Championship match?” Vaquer asked, appearing on the Titantron like a boss-level threat in a video game. Instantly, both Roxanne Perez and Giulia, seated and fielding media questions, stood up and faced the screen, locking eyes with the image of Vaquer looming large behind them. The tension in the room could’ve cut through a steel cage. As Vaquer’s message echoed, Perez defiantly lifted her NXT Women’s Championship into the air, while Giulia’s eyes were locked on the gold like a hungry predator.
Vaquer, for those who might’ve been living under a rock, made her WWE debut back in July, going toe-to-toe with former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Isla Dawn at a live event in Mexico City. Although she’s been MIA in the ring since that weekend, it seems the wait is over—her visa issues have apparently been resolved, and she’s making it clear she’s gunning for the top spot. She’s hungry, folks. Very hungry.
Now, Roxanne Perez is staring down not one, but two championship-sized threats. First up is the high-stakes match against Giulia, which goes down on NXT’s big debut on the CW Network next week.
