Folks, WWE is gearing up for a shakeup of epic proportions as their flagship shows, SmackDown and NXT, prepare to jump to new networks. According to the fine folks over at Fightful Select, we can expect some big changes to these shows, and no, I’m not just talking about the pyro budget.

With SmackDown headed back to USA Network and NXT making its CW debut, WWE is pulling out all the stops to make these transitions smoother than a Randy Orton RKO. So, what’s on the horizon? Let’s break it down:

New Theme Song for SmackDown – Goodbye, Def Rebel

After three years of rocking out to Def Rebel, WWE is shaking things up with a new theme song for SmackDown. And this time, it’s going to be from a mainstream artist! No word yet on who that artist is, but fingers crossed it’s not a “John Cena feat. Flo Rida” situation. Either way, WWE’s looking to make some noise with this one.

Pacing Changes—More Flexibility for SmackDown, Structure for NXT

When it comes to show pacing, WWE is tweaking things as well. With SmackDown back on USA Network, the 9:58 PM cutoff (you know, to avoid stepping on the toes of local news) is gone. That means more flexibility at the end of each episode. So if Roman Reigns wants to take his sweet time delivering another 20-minute promo, go ahead, Tribal Chief, the floor is yours!

On the flip side, NXT on The CW will have to stick to a more rigid schedule. The CW apparently wants their post-10 PM block back, meaning NXT won’t get to run over its allotted time. So expect a tighter, more structured finish for the show—but don’t worry, the chaos will still be plentiful.

Star-Studded Debuts and the Battle with AEW

WWE is loading both shows with major talent, clearly trying to make a splash when NXT premieres on The CW. Rumor has it that big names, including recent signings like Giulia, are being brought in to give NXT an extra boost in the ratings. And with NXT going head-to-head with AEW Dynamite on October 8, it’s no secret that WWE’s trying to win the night with a stacked card.

One thing’s for sure—WWE is going all in (pun intended) on this network switch, and both SmackDown and NXT are about to look a whole lot different.
