In an unexpected plot twist that would make a soap opera jealous, Jon Moxley has decided to channel his inner opportunist and throw a major wrench into the upcoming “AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam.” The man who recently gave Bryan Danielson a plastic-bag-themed farewell decided it was time for himself to step into the title picture, because clearly, suffocating a friend wasn’t chaotic enough.

Darby Allin, who earned his shot at the AEW World Championship with a win at the Royal Rampage, was all set to face Danielson at Arthur Ashe Stadium. But surprise! Thanks to Moxley’s recent trip to the dark side, Danielson is out of commission, presumably recovering from an ill-timed suffocation attempt at All Out. Moxley, never one to let a good opportunity slip, waltzed in and declared that he would be the one to step in for Danielson, because who better to replace the guy you betrayed than, well, the guy who betrayed him?

With all the subtlety of a bull in a china shop, Moxley declared that Allin wasn’t quite “ready” to take on the AEW title scene just yet and graciously offered to take the title shot for himself. Allin, to his credit, had the audacity to say “nah” and refused to align himself with Moxley’s “Purveyor of Violence” agenda, which might just be Darby’s most dangerous decision since taking up skateboarding with face paint on.

Instead of backing down, Allin challenged Moxley to earn the shot the old-fashioned way: by beating him at “Grand Slam.” So now, in a deliciously chaotic twist, we’ve got Moxley vs. Allin, with Darby’s hard-earned title shot on the line.

Will Darby hold on to his golden ticket, or will Moxley, fresh off his villainous turn, smash his way into the AEW World Championship match? Either way, the only thing certain at this point is that the “Grand Slam” is shaping up to be one wild ride.
