Oh, folks, let me tell you, we missed out on a truly epic mashup that could have changed wrestling forever! Back in the ’90s and 2000s, the legendary pitchman Billy Mays was the king of infomercials, selling everything from OxiClean to, well, probably the Brooklyn Bridge if he wanted to. His loud, passionate style made him a household name, and he even had his own show, “PitchMen,” on the Discovery Channel.

Now, hold onto your wrestling belts because here’s the kicker: Billy Mays almost made it to WWE! Yes, you heard that right. His son, Billy Mays III, who’s a big wrestling fan, spilled the beans while watching WWE SummerSlam on August 3rd. When a fan wished Billy Mays had been part of WWE during the guest host era, Mays III revealed that it nearly happened.

“You have no idea how close something like this was to happening! Sometime during the attitude era, OxiClean was thinking about sponsoring the WWF and the idea I heard thrown around was that my dad would appear on Raw or a PPV to ‘clean blood off the ring mat,'” Mays III tweeted.

Imagine the infomercial legend storming into the ring, shouting, “Hi, Billy Mays here with OxiClean! Got blood on your mat? No problem!” He’d clean it up faster than you could say “Stone Cold Stunner.” It would’ve been the cleanest bloodbath in WWE history!

OxiClean, one of Mays’s signature products, is still going strong today. And while Billy Mays didn’t get to make his WWE debut, his larger-than-life presence is still remembered fondly. After his untimely passing in 2009, his son took over the reins on “PitchMen,” though the show only lasted a few more episodes.

So, let’s raise a bottle of OxiClean and toast to what could have been—Billy Mays, the greatest pitchman who almost cleaned up the WWE!
