Ladies and gentlemen, grab your popcorn because the wrestling world has been hit with a bombshell announcement! AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone has revealed that she’s officially filed for divorce from her husband, Sarath Ton, who moonlights as a WWE costume designer. Looks like Mone is not just dropping belts but dropping the baggage, too!

In a heartfelt yet triumphant declaration on her YouTube channel, Mone shared her excitement about finally signing her divorce papers. After keeping her separation under wraps since December 2020, Mone is ready to embrace her newfound freedom. “Tomorrow, finally, after a long, long time, I’ll be finally signing my divorce papers. I’m excited, happy and, for me, I’m just ready to be free,” she said, radiating liberation like a phoenix rising from the ashes—or a wrestler from a grueling match.

Mone candidly explained the secrecy behind their split, citing the whirlwind of her career and the fear of public judgment. “For so long, I’ve kept this secret because of how fast life has been going and so much that has been happening and wrestling and everything. I just didn’t want the outside world to judge or say anything, especially during the time when all of this was happening,” she added. We can only imagine the secrecy levels required to keep a wrestling storyline under wraps—this was probably like that, but with more real-life consequences and fewer steel chairs.

Despite the split, Mone remains on good terms with her soon-to-be ex-husband, praising him for his positive impact on her life. “But, you know, I’m getting a divorce, and Sarath, my ex-husband now, we have such a great relationship and he’s such an amazing, incredible guy that I’m so thankful for. He’s another person that changed and saved my life.” Sounds like there’s no bad blood here, folks—just two people choosing different paths and cheering each other on from the sidelines.

Mone also shared that the need for secrecy was partly because of significant career moments, including her role in “The Mandalorian” and headlining WrestleMania 37 with Bianca Belair. She feared Vince McMahon might reshuffle her storyline deck if the news got out, so she and Ton opted for discretion. Just goes to show, even in wrestling, timing is everything!

I like ice cream, taking a back seat, wondering who I am, and pretending kayfabe is real. May or may not be the Real Dark Brandon. For the LOLZ. MALARKEY!
