Hold onto your wrestling tights, folks! The wrestling world is buzzing with excitement as AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Moné is set to make her triumphant return to NJPW at their Capital Collision show in Washington, D.C., on August 30. This will be Moné’s first match back in NJPW since her nasty ankle injury last year. Talk about a comeback story, right?

NJPW broke the news on social media, but they’re keeping their cards close to their chest about Moné’s opponent. The suspense is killing us! Moné’s last appearance in NJPW saw her sidelined after an intense match with Willow Nightingale, where she sustained an injury that had her fearing the worst for her career. Luckily for us and the wrestling universe, she’s back and ready to rumble.

After her contract with NJPW expired at the end of 2023, Moné made the jump to AEW and debuted at the AEW Big Business special. Despite her new home in AEW, NJPW clearly hasn’t forgotten about her, and it looks like the feeling is mutual. It’s like seeing your favorite crossover episode in real life!

The Capital Collision show is already shaping up to be a blockbuster event. Matches announced so far include Gabe Kidd defending his Strong Openweight Championship against Lio Rush, a tag team clash featuring Fred Rosser and Tom Lawlor vs. the West Coast Wrecking Crew, and Zack Sabre Jr. taking on Mexican sensation Titan. In the women’s division, Trish Adora will battle Stardom’s HANAKO. With Mercedes Moné’s return added to the mix, this show is set to be hotter than a summer sidewalk in D.C.!
