Folks, grab your popcorn because wrestling just got a whole lot more interesting. Rumors have been swirling all summer about Shane McMahon possibly making an appearance in AEW. It all started on Jim Ross’ podcast, and even AEW CEO Tony Khan hinted that McMahon would be “welcome” in the promotion. After weeks of radio silence, a new report from Fightful Select and WrestleTalk has dropped a bombshell: McMahon and Khan recently met in an Arlington, Texas, airport to discuss future “possibilities.”
On Monday, July 29, the two powerhouses finally sat down for a face-to-face chat. Though Khan was open to the idea, this was their first conversation. According to Fightful, the talks are in their infancy, and even AEW insiders were unaware of the meeting as of Tuesday. WrestleTalk added fuel to the fire by posting a photo of the meeting. In the pic, Khan sits at a table, looking amused, while McMahon stands across from him, sporting a serious expression. It’s a classic case of “business in the front, party in the back,” but who’s who?
The idea of Shane O’Mac in AEW would’ve seemed like pure fantasy a few months ago. Despite being Vince McMahon’s son, Shane carved his own path in the wrestling world with death-defying stunts that won him legions of fans. His last WWE appearance was memorable for all the wrong reasons, though. He tore his quad during WrestleMania 39, leading to the most unexpected tag-in ever—Snoop Dogg stepping up to wrestle The Miz.
Could Shane McMahon be AEW’s next big surprise? Stay tuned, because this wrestling saga is just getting started.
