The wrestling world is buzzing with excitement as AEW’s partnership with Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) reaches new heights. Fresh off his victory as AEW International Champion, MJF is set to make his CMLL in-ring debut with a title defense on August 2 at the legendary Arena Mexico.

In a bombastic announcement posted on CMLL’s X page, MJF proclaimed, “… Now, you are looking unequivocally at the greatest wrestler on God’s green earth, so I figured, what’s something a young, benevolent king like myself, what can I do to help out the world internationally? And the answer is simple. I’m going to take it to those masked morons in Mexico. August 2nd, Arena Mexico, MJF is coming to defend his championship because I’m the greatest wrestler in the world from the only country that matters, the good old US of A, and for that, CMLL, you can thank me later.”

MJF’s reign as International Champion began with an epic hour-long battle against Will Ospreay on the July 17 episode of “AEW Dynamite.” Prior to that, MJF bested former CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Hechicero at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view, showcasing talent from AEW, CMLL, NJPW, and STARDOM.

Fans can also look forward to appearances by AEW’s Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix, as well as PAC’s in-ring debut at CMLL’s July 26 event. Additionally, the show will feature CMLL stars like Mistico and Stephanie Vaquer, the latter having recently signed with WWE.

As for who will step up to challenge MJF at Arena Mexico, that remains a tantalizing mystery. But one thing’s for sure – the self-proclaimed “greatest wrestler in the world” is ready to prove his mettle in one of wrestling’s most iconic venues.

I like ice cream, taking a back seat, wondering who I am, and pretending kayfabe is real. May or may not be the Real Dark Brandon. For the LOLZ. MALARKEY!
