Brace yourselves, gamers and wrestling fans alike! The worlds of WWE and Call of Duty are colliding in an epic crossover that promises to be as explosive as a well-timed RKO. Season 5 of “Call of Duty: Warzone” is bringing some of WWE’s biggest stars to the battlefield, and it’s going to be a smackdown of epic proportions.
The hype train left the station on July 12 when a teaser showed a wrestling ring and the shadows of three mystery WWE-themed operators. Today, the curtain was finally pulled back to reveal the superstars stepping into the Warzone: former Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley, “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes, and the high-flying legend Rey Mysterio.
In the latest trailer for Season 5, Ripley took center stage, squaring off against Call of Duty mainstay Captain John Price in a showdown that had us all on the edge of our seats. But that’s not all! Alongside the wrestlers, the gameplay trailer showcased some jaw-dropping execution moves inspired by iconic wrestling finishers like Cross Rhodes, the leg drop, and the punt kick.
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, they introduced a new competitive mode: “Slam Deathmatch.” This mode will let players channel their inner WWE Superstar, requiring them to use their finest finishing moves to take down enemies. It’s like WrestleMania, but with way more bullets and explosions.
The update, which goes live on July 24, is also set to include several new multiplayer maps and a plethora of cosmetic skins. For Ripley, Mysterio, and Rhodes, this marks another milestone in their gaming careers. Ripley has already made waves with her likeness appearing in “Rainbow Six Siege,” while this will be the first time Mysterio and Rhodes step outside the wrestling game arena—Mysterio’s first non-wrestling game appearance in over two decades, and Rhodes’ second after his stint in “AEW Fight Forever.”
