Hold onto your belts, wrestling fans, because things are heating up on AEW! Following a fiery confrontation with Dr. Britt Baker (DMD) on Wednesday’s “AEW Dynamite,” the reigning TBS Champion Mercedes Mone threw down the gauntlet, issuing an open challenge for next week’s “Dynamite 250.” She made it clear: anyone but Baker could step up. And on Saturday’s “AEW Collision,” her challenge was answered in a big way by none other than “The Native Beast” Nyla Rose.
The announcement came hot on the heels of Rose’s victory over Ava Lawless on “Collision.” In a backstage promo, Rose declared she was ready to take on Mone, reminding everyone of her deep roots in AEW. She was there on the very first episode of “Dynamite” back in October 2019, losing to Riho in a match to crown the inaugural AEW Women’s World Champion. But Rose had her redemption, becoming the second champion by defeating Riho in February 2020.
Since then, Rose has been a formidable presence in AEW, often playing the monstrous heel. However, a recent incident involving the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission’s discrimination against trans wrestlers sparked a massive wave of support from AEW fans, turning Rose into a beloved babyface. This turn aligns perfectly against the newly-heel Mone, setting the stage for an explosive showdown.
Rose has only wrestled on “Dynamite” twice in the past year, with her last singles match on the show dating back to May 2023. Despite the infrequency, her consistent performance on AEW’s undercard has kept her in the spotlight. Now, with the challenge accepted and the match confirmed, fans are eagerly anticipating the clash between Rose and Mone. Interestingly, this will be the first time these two powerhouses face off in the ring.
Get ready for a historic “Dynamite 250” as Nyla Rose takes on Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship. It’s going to be a match you won’t want to miss!
