Ladies and gentlemen, gather ’round for some tremendous news about our favorite wrestling voice, Jim Ross! The iconic AEW Broadcaster and WWE Hall of Famer, despite facing a rough patch with his health in recent years, has some great news to share. The man with the golden voice is still kicking and fighting through, one health battle at a time.
“Wrist surgery successfully done,” Jim Ross triumphantly tweeted on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Healing continues.” Now, we don’t have the inside scoop on why Good Ol’ JR needed the surgery, but let’s focus on the silver lining here – it was a success!
Just a few weeks ago, JR found himself in the ER for an overnight stay due to shortness of breath. But like the trooper he is, he bounced back and returned to the broadcast booth, making the trip to Long Island for June’s Forbidden Door PPV event. There, he lent his legendary voice to some of the headlining matches. Before that, he graced AEW’s Revolution PPV in March, where he witnessed the retirement of his fellow WWE Hall of Famer, Sting.
Will JR make it to AEW’s next big PPV, All In, at Wembley Stadium in August? The jury’s still out on that one, folks. But if anyone can pull it off, it’s our man Jim Ross.
Originally brought in as the voice of “AEW Dynamite,” JR has transitioned to a part-time role while managing treatment for cancer and other health issues. He’s been upfront about his future plans, stating that he’s unlikely to renew his AEW contract once it expires. However, JR might still grace us with his voice for major AEW PPV matches on a per-appearance basis.
Despite his health struggles, JR remains optimistic and dedicated. He’s recovering well and, fingers crossed, we’ll continue to hear his iconic calls during the biggest matches on AEW’s PPVs. Keep healing, JR, we’re all rooting for you!
