2024 has been a tumultuous year for Drew McIntyre, as his pursuit of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship has been repeatedly thwarted by none other than CM Punk. After injuring Punk at the Royal Rumble in January, McIntyre found himself on the receiving end of Punk’s vengeance at WrestleMania 40, where Punk’s interference allowed Damian Priest to cash in and snag the title. Punk’s meddling didn’t stop there, as he continued to sabotage McIntyre’s title shots, most recently at Money in the Bank, where he ruined McIntyre’s cash-in attempt.

McIntyre, pushed to his limit by Punk’s incessant interference, snapped and unleashed a backstage assault on Punk, seemingly taking him out of commission. But Punk returned weeks later to spoil McIntyre’s title hopes once more, leading to a backstage tirade from McIntyre so intense that WWE Raw GM Adam Pearce announced McIntyre’s indefinite suspension. Meanwhile, Punk received a mere fine for his interference.

Unsurprisingly, McIntyre didn’t take this decision lightly. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to vent his frustrations, accusing Pearce of incompetence and referring to him as an “incompetent bald b***h.” Pearce quickly fired back, mockingly advising McIntyre to enjoy his time off and announcing that McIntyre’s fine had been doubled, suggesting the Scotsman should “tweet less.”

Pearce’s ruling implies that McIntyre will be absent from tonight’s episode of “Raw,” but with McIntyre’s fiery disposition, an uninvited appearance can’t be ruled out. Given the ongoing feud with Punk, it’s likely McIntyre’s suspension won’t last long, as their issues seem destined to explode at SummerSlam next month.
