In a twist worthy of a wrestling storyline, WWE NXT star Meiko Satomura made a surprise cameo in DDT Pro Wrestling’s first-ever Toden Train match. The bout, taking place within a moving tram, saw Minoru Suzuki finally defeat Sanshiro Takagi after an epic 55 minutes of action. During the journey, the tram doors opened to reveal some unexpected passengers, including Tokyo’s Governor Yuriko Koike, puroresu legend Jushin Thunder Liger, and none other than former NXT UK Women’s Champion, Meiko Satomura.

The innovative Toden Train match comes nine months after Suzuki’s wrestling match on a bullet train made mainstream headlines. Since signing with WWE in 2020, Satomura has made significant waves, debuting on the “NXT UK” brand and holding the NXT UK Women’s Championship until it was unified with the NXT Women’s Championship at Worlds Collide 2022. Her impressive reign lasted 451 days before Mandy Rose ended it by pinning Blair Davenport in a three-way match also involving Satomura.

At 44, Satomura remains a formidable force in the ring. Her last WWE match took place on the “NXT” brand during Roadblock 2023, where she narrowly lost to women’s champion Roxanne Perez. The match was so intense that Perez passed out afterward, setting the stage for her eventual title loss at Stand and Deliver 2023 and laying the groundwork for her current reign as a heel NXT Women’s Champion.

Satomura hasn’t limited herself to WWE rings. As recently as earlier this month, she teamed with Takumi Iroha to defeat Chihiro Hashimoto and Yuu during the Fortune 9 event on June 12. With her surprise appearance on the tram, Satomura continues to prove that she’s a versatile and enduring presence in the wrestling world.
