The wrestling world is abuzz with the latest twist in the saga of Shane McMahon and All Elite Wrestling (AEW). The ever-controversial AEW commentator Jim Ross recently sparked speculation by suggesting that Shane-O-Mac joining AEW might not be as far-fetched as it seems. Despite the wild nature of this idea, it got fans buzzing louder than a hornet’s nest at a summer picnic.

Rumors soon flew that Shane McMahon had already been reaching out to AEW talent about jumping ship. But, like a wrestler dodging a steel chair, those claims were swiftly shut down by sources within AEW and President Tony Khan himself. Tony, ever the diplomat, clarified that he has never had the pleasure of chatting with Shane.

But hold your horses! Just because they haven’t met doesn’t mean the door is closed. In a candid chat with Sports Illustrated, Khan made it clear that the door to AEW is always ajar for the McMahon scion.

“I heard the rumor he might be interested,” Khan said. “I’ve never met Shane, but we have a lot of mutual friends. I have a lot of respect for him as an executive and a professional wrestler. Shane is always welcome in AEW.”

Last time fans saw Shane in the ring, it was at WrestleMania 39 in 2023, where he made a surprise appearance to battle his old buddy and occasional foe, The Miz. The excitement was cut short when Shane tore his quad muscle while attempting a leapfrog. In a plot twist worthy of a daytime soap, rapper Snoop Dogg stepped in and pinned The Miz, saving the day and the match.

Since that unfortunate leapfrog, Shane has been rehabbing his injuries and staying out of the wrestling spotlight, perhaps preferring to keep a low profile given the ongoing legal drama involving his father, Vince McMahon, and former WWE employee Janel Grant.

So, while Shane McMahon might be down, he’s certainly not out. And who knows? Maybe one day we’ll see him strutting down an AEW ramp, ready to make another splash in the world of professional wrestling.
