Hold onto your wrestling tights, folks! The winds of change are blowing through the WWE, and they’re carrying Donovan Dijak right out the door. After a seven-year stint with the company, Dijak took to X today to share his exit letter, revealing that WWE decided not to renew his contract. The contract wraps up on Saturday, June 29, making this his final hurrah under the WWE banner.
In his letter, Dijak didn’t pull any punches: “WWE never negotiated with me,” he proclaimed. “We attempted to negotiate and they stonewalled us. They never made me a single offer, and then they informed me they would not renew my contract at the eleventh hour.”
Dijak’s journey in WWE has been a rollercoaster of high-flying maneuvers and backstage shenanigans. Just recently, a top executive was singing his praises after a standout performance at WWE NXT Stand & Deliver in April. Dijak was led to believe he was on track for an NXT Championship feud, but instead found himself shuffled off to “WWE Raw” during this year’s draft.
In true underdog fashion, Dijak pitched ideas to creative folks backstage like a kid trying to sell lemonade in a snowstorm. Despite his relentless efforts, the WWE creative team remained as responsive as a brick wall.
But don’t count Dijak out just yet! “I’m thankful, disappointed, but also excited,” he wrote. “This has lit a fire under me to relentlessly prove myself to the world. All I ever wanted was a fair shot and now I have the opportunity to go out and take it.”
As he steps into free agency, Dijak isn’t wasting any time. He’s shared his email for bookings and interviews, and tagged Tony Khan, AEW, TNA Wrestling, Tommy Dreamer, and NJPW in his post. With no pesky release clauses tying him down, he’s free to wrestle anywhere come Saturday.
Dijak’s WWE journey saw him soar in the midcard on “WWE NXT” and later transform into the formidable T-Bar as part of Retribution. Before his WWE days, he made waves with a series of epic battles against Keith Lee. Now, the wrestling world is his oyster, and Dijak is ready to shuck it like a pro.
