AEW’s very own Dax Harwood is gearing up to hit the big 4-0 on June 30. In a move that screams “tag team goals,” Dax’s wife, Maria, and his longtime partner-in-crime, Cash Wheeler, pulled off a legendary surprise. They roped in none other than WWE Hall of Famer Bret “The Hitman” Hart to make Dax’s birthday one for the record books!
Dax, clearly overwhelmed with joy, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the heartwarming moment. The video shows Dax chilling on a restaurant patio, probably thinking about headlocks and suplexes, when suddenly, his idol Bret Hart strolls in like it’s no big deal. Dax’s face? Priceless.
“Never in a million years did I think I’d get to this point in my career, but here we are,” Dax gushed. “What a life. Love you all.”
Now, if you’ve been paying attention, you’d know Dax is a Bret Hart superfan. The guy practically has a PhD in Hitman-ology, borrowing moves and mannerisms from the legend for his own in-ring arsenal. And Bret? Well, he’s a fan of Dax too, especially after that memorable match between Dax and CM Punk, where they showered Bret with tributes. Bret even texted Dax before the bout—because that’s just what wrestling BFFs do.

Despite all the celebrations, it’s not all sunshine and suplexes for Dax. He’s currently nursing a lower back injury thanks to a Piledriver mishap with Matt Jackson at AEW Dynasty. Looks like the former AAA and IWGP Tag Team Champion will be out of action for a bit. But hey, with friends like Bret Hart stopping by for birthday lunches, we think Dax will manage just fine.
