In the wake of the news that WWE Hall of Famer Sika Anoa’i passed away at the age of 79, his son and current WWE superstar Roman Reigns took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express his gratitude for the immense support shown by fans and colleagues alike.

“My family and I thank everyone for the outpouring of support in the name of my father, Pola’ivao Leati Sika Anoa’i, who will forever be remembered as one half of The Wild Samoans tag team,” Reigns wrote. “My father had a profound impact on my entire family and we are forever grateful for the foundation he built for us. There’s no way to fill the void left by his passing but my sisters and I will do our best to represent him and his legacy. Rest in Power, Dad. We love you.”

Sika’s passing was first announced by Jahrus Anoa’i on Instagram Tuesday morning. Sika, along with his brother Afa Anoa’i Sr., formed the legendary tag team known as The Wild Samoans. Together, they captured multiple WWF Tag Team Championships and cemented their place in wrestling history. Their legacy continues to influence the sport today, particularly through WWE’s ongoing Bloodline storyline. In addition to Roman Reigns, Sika is survived by another son, Rosey, who tragically passed away in 2017.

Roman Reigns’ heartfelt message comes after a period of radio silence from “The Tribal Chief,” who has remained out of the public eye since his loss to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
