In the land of body slams and suplexes, John Cena has been the unwavering titan for over two decades. But now, the time has come for Cena to consider hanging up his jorts. In a recent interview with People, Cena touched on the inevitability of retirement while also flexing about his impressive physical fitness regime.

“The WWE journey is ending, but fitness? Fitness is forever, like that mystery stain on your favorite shirt,” Cena said with the confidence of a man who knows he can still bench press a small car. “It’s year 23 for me in WWE, and the sun’s setting on that chapter. But fitness will always be my eternal flame, flickering as long as my heart’s beating and my muscles are bulging.”

Despite dodging specifics on when he’ll officially step away from the ring, Cena hinted that his retirement might come before he hits 50. And no, it’s not because he’s out of gas; this muscle-bound marvel feels stronger than ever.

“I feel as if I am operating at my best,” Cena declared, flexing both his biceps and his vocabulary. “From the spirit of [mind] and a body standpoint, I’m the best I’ve been in all 47 of my years on this earth. You hear that, Father Time? I’m still winning!”

Cena’s most recent WWE cameo was at WrestleMania 40 in April, where he swooped in to assist Cody Rhodes in battling the relentless Roman Reigns and The Bloodline. Of course, because wrestling is all about the drama, Cena found himself flat on his back thanks to The Rock, reigniting their legendary feud. Apparently, old rivalries die hard, and in this case, they also deliver hard-hitting nostalgia.
