“WWE NXT” shook things up this week, bringing in surprise competitors from TNA Wrestling, including Joe Hendry and Frankie Kazarian, for the number one contender’s battle royal. Despite the hype and fresh faces, neither TNA star clinched the victory. Instead, it was Je’Von Evans who emerged victorious, earning a title shot against Trick Williams at the 2024 NXT Heatwave event on July 7.

The battle royal kicked off with a bang as Ethan Page locked eyes with Joe Hendry. Just as Page was about to make his move, Oro Mensah, driven by revenge, launched an attack on Page, taking him out of contention. This distraction allowed several other competitors to team up and eliminate Hendry early on.

As the dust settled and the field narrowed, the final four competitors stood out: Je’Von Evans, Shawn Spears, Dragon Lee, and Frankie Kazarian. Evans made a dramatic move, hurling Kazarian over the top rope. With his focus shifted to Dragon Lee, Evans engaged in a fierce exchange of strikes. Shawn Spears seized the moment to push Lee out of the ring.

The climax of the match saw Spears attempting a high-risk springboard dive onto Evans. However, Evans countered with a superkick followed by a flying knee, dazing Spears. Capitalizing on the opportunity, Evans dumped Spears over the top rope, securing his victory and a title shot.
