In a wrestling world twist worthy of its own soap opera, two former WWE stars, Mace and Mansoor, who were unceremoniously given the boot last year, are reportedly gearing up for their grand AEW debut this weekend at “AEW Collision.” And yes, folks, it’s happening.
According to the ever-watchful eyes of “Fightful Select,” the former Maximum Male Models are booked to make a backstage cameo at the “Collision” tapings. Now known as MxM (because fewer letters are more mysterious, obviously), Mace and Mansoor have been globetrotting like wrestling superheroes, conquering rings from Japan to Poland and everywhere in between. North America? Been there, drop-kicked that.
Rumor has it, Mansoor was recently spotted backstage at an “AEW Dynamite” show, like a wrestling ninja. The duo also lurked backstage at a TNA taping earlier this year, but haven’t graced the TNA ring yet. Mansoor, ever the social butterfly, has expressed his burning desire to join AEW, citing the presence of his wrestler friends who already call AEW home.
The anticipation is palpable for this weekend’s “Collision” at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio, marking the one-year anniversary of the show. It’s set to be a wrestling extravaganza with four announced matches. The Blackpool Combat Club will clash with The Mighty Don’t Kneel, Rocky Romero, and Lio Rush in an eight-man tag team bonanza. House of Black will face off against Bang Bang Gang in a trios showdown. Former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa will duke it out with Deonna Purrazzo, and Dante Martin and Lee Moriarty will vie for a spot in the TNT Championship.
