In a night that perfectly blended MMA and professional wrestling at the UFC Apex, Shayna Baszler and Lola Vice showcased their skills in the first-ever “NXT” Underground match at Battleground. The rising star, Lola Vice, triumphed over the seasoned veteran, scoring a TKO victory due to referee stoppage.

Vice, who boasts a professional Bellator record of 4-1, secured the win after delivering a devastating Spinning Backfist followed by a barrage of Hammerfists. Baszler, hindered by a compromised knee from early in the match, couldn’t withstand Vice’s relentless assault. This match marked a homecoming for “The Queen of Spades,” who previously competed on “The Ultimate Fighter” as part of Team Rousey and wrapped up her MMA career with a 15-11 record.

Though the Octagon was swapped for the ropeless squared circle, the match was a true homage to MMA. Both competitors entered in traditional gis and wore fingerless gloves, showcasing textbook standup, shoot wrestling takedowns, and an authentic referee stoppage. The bout also featured classic pro wrestling elements, with involvement of the announce table, ring steps, and Baszler’s interactions with the audience.

The end came when Vice capitalized on Baszler’s injured knee, landing a decisive blow and finishing with ground and pound. The referee had no choice but to stop the match, despite Baszler’s attempts to continue. Baszler sold the decision like a true pro, clutching the referee’s leg in a daze, while Vice celebrated her hard-fought victory.
