At the AEW Double or Nothing kickoff show, Tony Khan and Martha Hart gave us a reason to rejoice by announcing the return of the Owen Hart Cup Tournament. The stakes are high, with the winners of the men’s and women’s tournaments earning world title shots at All In at Wembley Stadium this summer. Until Saturday night, the female competitors were a mystery, but “AEW Collision” unveiled some major players.

First up, Kris Statlander, fresh off a quick beatdown of Robyn Renegade, declared her intention to make history. Statlander aims to be the first to hold both the TBS Championship and the AEW Women’s World Championship. With that bold claim, she became the first woman to enter the Owen Hart Cup. Later in the show, Lexy Nair interviewed former TBS Champion and 2023 Women’s Owen Hart Cup winner, Willow Nightingale. Nightingale, brimming with confidence, announced her entry into this year’s tournament and sent a friendly challenge to Statlander, despite the bad blood from Double or Nothing where Statlander turned on her.

The drama didn’t stop there. Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm took center stage after defeating Lady Frost. Storm, in a heartfelt moment, called her protégé Mariah May to the apron. She shared how she had no one to look out for her in her early wrestling days and promised to guide May. Demanding May’s entry into the tournament, Storm vowed to support her every step of the way.

While the start date for the tournament remains under wraps, we know the finals are set for July 10 on “AEW Dynamite,” taking place in Owen Hart’s hometown of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The stage is set, and the competition is heating up!
