Wrestling fans, brace yourselves! The esteemed William Regal is rumored to step back into the WWE spotlight in a major way. After nearly 18 months behind the scenes, the British wrestling legend is being pitched for a pivotal role in NXT.

Having returned to WWE in January 2023 as the Vice President of Global Talent Development, Regal’s comeback was initially constrained by a non-compete clause that kept him off television for a year following his AEW stint. But that clause has expired, and whispers are growing louder about Regal’s potential on-screen return.

The Mastermind Behind the No Quarter Catch Crew?

According to the ever-reliable Fightful Select, pitches began a few months ago to cast Regal as the manager of the No Quarter Catch Crew, an NXT faction that notably includes his real-life son, Charlie Dempsey. Dempsey hinted at the faction needing structure during the May 28 edition of “WWE NXT,” amid their intense rivalry with Tony D’Angelo’s family. With D’Angelo capturing the NXT Heritage Cup from Dempsey, the stage seems set for a seasoned strategist like Regal to bring order to the chaos.

Regal’s Sporadic Appearances and Future Prospects

While Regal has kept a low profile, his non-compete clause’s expiration has allowed him to make strategic appearances. He first popped up in a social media video announcing Dempsey’s challenge for All Japan Pro Wrestling’s Triple Crown Championship. Since then, Regal has appeared on WWE TV to name Ava the new NXT General Manager, cheer his son on at NXT Roadblock, and was spotted ringside with former STARDOM performer Giulia during WrestleMania 40 weekend.

If these plans come to fruition, Regal’s role as a mentor for the No Quarter Catch Crew would mark his first significant on-screen presence since his days as NXT General Manager during the brand’s ‘black and gold’ era.
