The wrestling world is abuzz with the latest backstage revelations surrounding Ethan Page’s unexpected departure from AEW and his shocking debut on “WWE NXT.” Having last graced AEW’s TV screens in December, Page reappeared in WWE’s developmental arena, leaving fans and insiders scratching their heads and reaching for their popcorn.

According to the wrestling sleuths at Fightful Select, Ethan Page has inked a deal with WWE following his AEW exit. The nature of his departure remains shrouded in mystery—whether he was released or simply let his contract run out is yet to be confirmed. The only thing clearer than a steel chair to the head is that Page had been plotting his free-agent status since late spring, intent on keeping his exit under wraps until his grand reappearance.

Page’s WWE contract was reportedly hammered out last week, complete with a clandestine visit to the WWE Performance Center. WWE brass are reportedly thrilled with Page’s NXT debut, and even the main roster has caught wind, expressing excitement over the new recruit.

Page’s departure from AEW became official in early May, as evidenced by his vanishing act from the company’s roster page. His AEW stint began in 2021, but his final matches were under the Ring of Honor (ROH) banner, with his last showdown on February 10. Interestingly, Page had previously flirted with WWE before committing to AEW, describing those earlier discussions as positive but ultimately committing to Tony Khan’s promotion.

Page isn’t alone in his exodus from AEW. Veteran wrestling icons Arn Anderson and Mark Henry have also packed their bags, and rumor has it that Jake Hager’s contract has quietly expired.
