In a move that left the wrestling world in a state of shock, AEW released several talents in early April, breaking their five-year streak of roster stability. Since then, most of the released talent have been laying low, with the exception of Anthony Henry, who recently made a triumphant return to AEW after recovering from a broken jaw. Now, the rumor mill is buzzing with news that another former AEW star might be making waves in the wrestling world again.

According to Fightful Select, Jose the Assistant was seen backstage at TNA’s TV taping this past weekend in Newport, Kentucky. While Jose didn’t make an on-screen appearance, he was spotted in a meeting with TNA higher-up Tommy Dreamer for reasons that remain “undisclosed.” Naturally, this has led to rampant speculation that Jose could soon be joining TNA’s ranks.

Jose first burst onto the wrestling scene in 2021 as the assistant to AEW’s Andrade El Idolo, quickly becoming a key figure in the reformed La Faccion Ingobernables stable alongside Andrade and Rush. He maintained his position even after Andrade was ousted following a real-life backstage scuffle with Sammy Guevara. Jose’s last AEW appearance was in December 2023, and he had been absent from TV prior to his release due to Rush’s injury and visa issues.

Beyond his assistant duties, Jose boasts impressive credentials as a luchador. Trained by CMLL star Ultimo Guerrero and lucha legends Super Boy and Skayde, he wrestled from 2007 to 2019, including enhancement matches for WWE in 2011 and 2012. His most notable stint as a performer was with the lucha promotion IWRG in 2015, where he wrestled under the name Principe Orion.

As the wrestling world eagerly waits to see where Jose lands next, one thing is clear: the journey of Jose the Assistant is far from over.
