Get ready for a grudge match of epic proportions! AEW Double or Nothing 2024 just got a thrilling eighth match, as Orange Cassidy faces off against his former friend and tag team partner, Trent Beretta. This rematch follows their heated battle on the May 8 episode of “AEW Dynamite,” where Cassidy emerged victorious. The new match was solidified during Saturday’s “AEW Collision,” with Beretta challenging Cassidy to a “straight-up wrestling match,” no frills, no gimmicks, just pure wrestling.

The drama began during “Collision,” as Cassidy defeated Private Party’s Isiah Kassidy while Beretta watched from the front row. Post-match, Beretta, clearly harboring resentment, was interviewed by Lexy Nair.

“Lexy, you know, being here ringside, it’s plainly obvious to me that I’m a better professional wrestler than Orange Cassidy,” Beretta said, finger pointed dramatically at Cassidy, who was still recovering in the ring. “And the only reason he was able to beat me the other week is because he cheated. He’s a sociopath who thinks the rules don’t apply to him! They do! Rules matter!”

Beretta, who recently retired his former Best Friend and tag team partner, Chuck Taylor, isn’t just spewing hot air. Cassidy won their previous encounter by driving Beretta’s head into an exposed turnbuckle, a move sparked by the rage over Beretta’s betrayal. Cassidy has also been dropping hints of a potential alignment with the much-despised manager Don Callis, suggesting a heel turn. But for Beretta, Cassidy’s ethical ambiguities are secondary to the burning desire for revenge.

“I’d like to issue a challenge,” Beretta declared. “Double or Nothing, in a straight-up wrestling match! Myself against that narcissist —” Before he could finish, Cassidy punched him in the face. The ensuing brawl was short-lived, with officials pulling them apart. They’re scheduled to clash again in a tag team match on the May 22 episode of “Dynamite” — Cassidy will team with Will Ospreay, while Beretta pairs with Ospreay’s Double or Nothing opponent, Roderick Strong. Mark your calendars for May 26 in Las Vegas, because this showdown promises to be unforgettable.
