In a development that’s as surprising as a sudden finisher, WWE NXT star Scrypts, known off the ropes as Sidney Akeem, is set to leave the squared circle of WWE’s developmental brand. Fightful Select reports that WWE has decided not to renew his contract, which draws to a close at the end of May. This marks the end of an era for the former WWE 24/7 Champion, whose journey from a difficult childhood through acrobatics to the wrestling ring has captivated fans.

Scrypts, who first stepped into WWE’s spotlight in 2020 as Reginald, a suave sommelier and assistant to Carmella, quickly became a fan favorite. His agility and charismatic presence led to his evolution into Reggie, where he found himself entangled in an onscreen relationship with Dana Brooke, adding a romantic twist to his narrative. His transition to NXT saw him donning a mask as part of his persona, which was dramatically removed by his rival-turned-temporary ally, Axiom.

Despite these captivating story arcs, Scrypts’ last match aired on NXT earlier this month, where he was defeated by Je’Von Evans in a brisk five-minute encounter. As Scrypts prepares to exit WWE, he leaves behind the unresolved fates of his faction members in OTM, or Out The Mud, including Bronco Nima, Lucien Price, and Jaida Parker.

As for Scrypts’ next chapter, the wrestler is poised to continue his career in the ring under his likely stage name, Sidney Akeem. Fans of the agile and spirited performer can expect him to bring the same energy and dedication to his future endeavors outside the WWE. While WWE’s decision not to renew his contract marks the end of this particular journey, it also sets the stage for new opportunities that await this talented wrestler in the wrestling world beyond WWE.
