Hold the phone, wrestling fans! Have you ever geared up for a big surprise only to find out it’s not happening? That’s exactly what went down with WWE Hall of Famers Lita and Trish Stratus at WrestleMania 40. These legends were all set to light up “The Show of Shows” with a special segment, but, like a plot twist in a soap opera, their appearance got the ax.

Thanks to “Fightful Select,” we’ve got the scoop that Lita and Trish were originally on the WrestleMania roster but ended up on the cutting room floor. Now, both superstars were spotted backstage—snapped in all their glory—and even popped up in Bayley’s backstage vlog, throwing a mini-celebration with the new WWE Women’s Champion after her victory over Iyo Sky.

Last year, the dynamic duo teamed up with Becky Lynch at WrestleMania in sunny California, turning the tables on Bayley, Iyo Sky, and Dakota Kai of Damage CTRL. That matchup marked Lita’s last WWE dance, while Trish has kept the door slightly ajar for a return, hinting she’d come back if the stars aligned to offer fans something fresh and exciting.

Despite the absence of our beloved Hall of Famers on the main stage this year, WrestleMania wasn’t short on star power. The event played host to a parade of celebrities from NFL heroes Lane Johnson and Jason Kelce to social media sensation IShowSpeed, not to mention rap royalty Snoop Dogg and Lil Wayne. So, while Lita and Trish didn’t step into the spotlight this time, the extravaganza was anything but lacking in luster.

As for Lita and Trish, who knows? Maybe next year’s WrestleMania might just feature these iconic wrestlers once more. After all, in the world of WWE, never say never.
