Paul “Triple H” Levesque, the visionary behind WWE’s creative landscape, sees the current era as a moment of transition, a time too precious to be confined by labels.

“I think it’ll organically find its way to whatever people want to call it,” mused Levesque during a chat on “The Pat McAfee Show.” The WWE Chief Content Officer isn’t rushing to slap a name on this era just yet, likening it to the way the legendary Attitude Era earned its moniker after the fact. “We didn’t call it the ‘Attitude Era’ while we were in it; that kinda came later.”

Levesque envisions WWE not in the throes of a new era but teetering on the brink, with the shape of this period yet to fully crystallize in the eyes of fans. He believes the next couple of years will be pivotal in defining what this era truly represents. However, he’s quick to note that WWE’s current landscape differs significantly from the tumultuous days of the Attitude Era.

“In a lot of ways, we were fighting for our lives back then,” reminisced Levesque. “There was a company out there that had more money, that was doing big things, that was kicking our ass in a way, and we wouldn’t let them.”

Levesque fondly recalled the days of WWE and WCW locking horns in the same city, with WCW often occupying larger venues like the United Center while WWE held its ground in smaller arenas like the Rosemont Horizon. Despite the odds, WWE stars stood united, delivering electrifying performances and outshining their rivals.

“We were building up against something,” explained Levesque. “Now we’re up against ourselves.”

The WWE Chief Content Officer contends that WWE’s biggest competition lies not in external forces but in the rich tapestry of its own history, each era standing as a formidable benchmark in the company’s journey.
